Conway, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Two additional suspects are facing murder charges in connection to the discovery of a body along SC-90 early Wednesday morning.
Lt. Jamie DeBari, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, said Kwmane Jutei Akeen Green, 20, and Jaqwon Danik Gagnum, 18, have been arrested and charged with murder and third degree arson on Friday.
The duo, police believe, played a critical role in the death of Eric Salters, 21, of Myrtle Beach, whose body was found along Ridgefield Circle in Conway on Wednesday morning.
Investigators have arrested and charged three others in the ongoing case:
- Jimmy Darrell Gagnum Jr., 18, charged with murder, armed robbery and third degree arson
- Shelton Manquell Brantley, 19, charged with murder and third degree arson
- Michael Jerome Conner, 19, charged with misprison of a felony
The three teens were taken into custody Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. at an area Sleep Inn hotel.
Amidst the investigation, charges were upgraded for both Jimmy Darrell Gagnum and Brantley. It was learned that some of the suspects were also involved in the victim's vehicle being set on fire after the shooting.
Police were called to a location along Ridgefield Circle off of SC-90 around 5:20 a.m. after a person discovered Salters' body. Officials said Salters suffered from an apparent gunshot wound, and believe the homicide did not occur on Ridgefield Circle.
Neighbors in the area say they think the incident is drug related. Debari would not comment on that, but confirmed the victim does have a criminal history.
