Lake City, SC - LAKE CITY, SC (WMBF) - A Lake City man was charged with voluntary manslaughter after investigators say he shot and killed a man at an area night club over the weekend.
Larue Jones Singletary, 26, was arrested Friday on charges of voluntary manslaughter and three counts of discharging a firearm into a vehicle in connection the shooting death of Demetrius Keels. Keels, 25, was shot early Saturday morning in the parking lot of Club Cosmos, 1436 Johnsonville Hwy. in Lake City. He was transported to Lake City Community Hospital where he died.
Investigators say Singletary fired a gun from the side door of the club into the parking lot. The bullet hit Keels in the back and killed him. An arrest warrant says Singletary also fired the gun into three separate vehicles.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing and additional charges are possible. Singletary is being held at the Florence County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
