CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - It's a very different scene in the neighborhood where 21-year-old Edwin Donnell Salters was found shot to death Thursday morning. Children were outside playing, but the shooting is still the talk of the area.

Early Thursday evening, Horry County Police announced three teens were arrested and charged in connection to Salters' death. Investigators said the men were arrested at the Sleep Inn in Conway shortly after 11:30 p.m. Wednesday.

While the arrests mean progress is being made in the case, Lt. Jamie DeBari said the investigation is far from over.

"We're anticipating at this time two more arrests," DeBari said.

Even so, neighbors said they're glad to hear about the three in custody.

"I prayed really hard that they would have them caught, and I knew the Lord would have them caught," Lisa Christy said, who lives near where the body was found.  "I feel for the family. My heart and my prayers go out to the who family, cause that's inhumane. That's just wrong."

Neighbor Steve Scott said quick police work has allowed him to rest a little easier.

"I'm glad they found the killers. We've got them off the streets," Scott said.

Although two more arrests are anticipated in the case, neighbors off of Ridgewood Drive said they're not letting the crime that ended up in their backyards change their way of life.

"I sleep with my windows open at night. My doors locked of course, but I'm comfortable around this neighborhood," Scott said.
