Trio of teens arrested in connection to SC-90 homicide

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Three people have been taken into custody by Horry County Police in connection to the discovery of a body off of SC-90 near Conway on Wednesday.

Lt. Jamie DeBari, spokesman for the Horry County Police Department, said the trio was taken into custody Wednesday around 11:30 p.m. at an area Sleep Inn hotel.

Investigators identified the suspects as:

  • Jimmy Darrell Gagnum Jr., 18, charged with murder
  • Shelton Manquell Brantley, 19, charged with accessory after the fact of a felony
  • Michael Jerome Conner, 19, charged with misprison of a felony

Investigators were called to a location along Ridgefield Circle off of SC-90 around 5:20 a.m. after a person found the body of Edwin Donnell Salters, 21, of Myrtle Beach. Officials said Salters suffered from an apparent gunshot wound, and believe the homicide did not occur on Ridgefield Circle.

Neighbors in the area say they think the incident is drug related. Debari would not comment on that, but confirmed the victim does have a criminal history.

All three suspects are currently in custody at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Police anticipate two additional arrests in the case.
