Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH - Local chambers of commerce could lose Horry County funding under a plan presented to leaders Thursday.
During a budget workshop, the staff recommended not spending $246,363 of accommodations tax money on the chambers.
Chairwoman Liz Gilland said she wasn't worried about the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber's funding because it receives revenue from the City of Myrtle Beach's penny tourism tax. But smaller chambers like Little River and Aynor would be severely impacted, she said.
