Golf tournament to benefit local hospice, children's grief program

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Grand Dunes Resort Club in Myrtle Beach is helping to host a golf tournament that will benefit a children's grief and loss program offered by MercyCare, a hospice located in the Grand Strand.

The 9th Annual John Heiert/Jean Wheeler Memorial Golf Tournament will take place on June 5 with an 8 a.m. shotgun start. The golf tournament, which began in 2001, has raised nearly $100,000 in the last eight years for the MercyCare program.

The non-profit hospice works closely with the school systems and Department of Social Services to identify children who can benefit from working with trained counselors.
