Horry County, SC - Conway, SC (WMBF) – May is National Preservation Month and to recognize this event, the Horry County Board of Architectural Review will hold its annual Preservation Awards.
The awards will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Horry County Courthouse. The theme for this year is "Old is the New Green."
The BAR will honor Angela Calhoun, a teacher at Conway High School, who has brought local history to the forefront of her students teaching by partnering with Horry County in its ongoing Cemetery Project. Also receiving an award is Larry Paul and the L.W. Paul Living History Farm, who recreated life on a one-mule historic farm for current generations to experience the past.
To recognize Preservation Month, the Horry County Board of Architectural Review and Conway Main Street USA will partner to host Sign Language. A workshop exploring historic signage will be presented by the South Carolina Department of Archives and History on May 21.
