Police look for McColl shooting suspect

McColl, SC - MCCOLL, SC (WMBF) - Police are looking for the suspect who shot a woman early Sunday morning at a McColl home.

Officers were called to the home in the 300 block of West Gibson around 2 a.m., according to McColl Police Chief Tommy Langley. The 24-year-old victim told investigators she was at her boyfriend's home when someone knocked on her door. When she answered and asked who it was, the person at the door replied "Jamie."

The woman told police she thought it was a friend playing a joke and told him to "quit playing," and the suspect told her he wasn't playing and shot at her.

The gun misfired twice, the victim said, but the gun fired on the third attempt and the bullet struck her in the chest, Langley said, adding the bullet lodged in her lung.

Langley said the woman was transported to Scotland Memorial Hospital in Laurinburg, NC, and is expected to survive.

Investigators are looking for the suspect.
