Motorcycle festival winds down in Myrtle Beach

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (AP) - Motorcyclists are heading home from an annual bike rally on the South Carolina coast that has seen attendance drop over the past two years.

The Harley-Davidson Cruisin' the Coast spring bike rally wraps up Monday.

The city of Myrtle Beach two years ago approved ordinances to cut down on bike rally activities, which the city says make the area less attractive to families.

Longtime vendors say it's getting harder to make money because of rising fees, fewer shoppers and a shorter event.

Karen-Marie Hall says customers at her tent are from North Carolina, West Virginia and other nearby states. She says people from farther away don't want to visit Myrtle Beach where they don't feel welcome.

Another rally is set at nearby Atlantic Beach later this month.
