Air show draws aviation enthusiasts to Florence

Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - Aviation enthusiasts are expected to dump nearly $1.8 million into the Florence economy, as a yearly air show prepares to fill the skies of the Pee Dee town.

The Florence Regional Airport will play host to the Piggly Wiggly Pee Dee Air Show and Festival on June 5-6. The 2010 edition of the event marks the seventh air show and festival to be hosted at Florence Regional.

Event organizers said the weekend boast a full line-up featuring the U.S. Army Golden Knight Jump Team, the F/A-18 East Coast Tactical Demo Team, Big Air Insanity Team, F-16 Viper East Demo Team and Shockwave Peterbilt Jet Truck.

The family-themed event will also feature air-themed bouncy rides, a big foot truck race, bi-plane and helicopter rides.

Children under 12 years of age will be admitted to the event for free. Adult tickets are $15 at the gate, but discount tickets will be made available for $12 at South Carolina Piggly Wiggly Stores.
