Georgia duo faces federal credit card fraud charges

Columbia, SC - COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - Two Georgia men have been charged in a one-count indictment with conspiracy to commit credit card fraud Wednesday, according to U.S. Attorney William Nettles.

A statement released by Nettles said Kenneth Jerome Howard, 34, of Conyers, GA, and Orlando George Griffith, 31, of Stone Mountain, GA, were arrested following an April traffic stop on Interstate 85 in Anderson County.

During the stop, officers discovered counterfeit credit cards, debit cards and gift cards inside of the vehicle. A Secret Service investigation led to the indictment.

The maximum penalty the two men could face is a fine of $250,000 and five years in prison.
