Surfside Beach, SC - SURFSIDE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Officials in Surfside Beach claim there's no need to enter discussions on revisiting a town moratorium that would continue a ban on bike week vendors.
Members of the Surfside Beach Town Council passed over the moratorium at a Tuesday evening meeting that has been in place for the last two years.
Mayor Allen Deaton said because the crowds associated with the spring and fall bike rallies have diminished, so has the need for a ban on vendors. In 2008, Surfside Beach officials passed the two-year moratorium, after town leaders decided the rallies were noisy and caused traffic congestion in the town.
The ban was in place until new Surfside Beach Town Council were sworn into office on Tuesday.
