North Myrtle Beach, SC - NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The City of North Myrtle Beach has announced a two-week appreciation event for members of the U.S. Armed Forces to begin in 2011.
The city announced the event during an 11:30 a.m. press conference Wednesday. With events planned in Myrtle Beach and North Myrtle Beach, organizers hope it will draw 250,000 visitors from around the country to the Grand Strand.
In 2010, the city is planning a reunion of the 173rd Airborne on June 3. North Myrtle Beach beat out Chicago, Tampa, Miami and Daytona Beach to play to play host to the veterans. City officials hope this year's event will bring 30,000 visitors to North Myrtle Beach.
In 2010, North Myrtle Beach and Myrtle Beach plan to combine their Military Appreciation Day events for a two-week period.
