Volunteers honored at "Adopt a Beach Access" cookout

NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - North Myrtle Beach knows the importance of keeping its beaches beautiful, and now one program is honoring those who keep the sand and water litter free.

The Keep North Myrtle Beach Beautiful Committee hosted a cookout Tuesday night at McLean Park in North Myrtle Beach to honor those who have adopted an area beach access.

"Because we do have so many tourists that come down here, we want to have people feel good about North Myrtle Beach and see it as a clean city, a beautiful city and a city that cares about the environment," said volunteer Jolie Ocker.

Organizers said a handful of volunteers showed up to enjoy the cookout, an inflatable slide, giveaways and to stock up on more beach cleaning supplies.
