BENNETTSVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Bennettsville Police have charged four people, including one juvenile, with the murder and armed robbery of a store clerk Monday morning.

According to Lt. Larry Turner, officers with Bennettsville Police were assisted by the Marlboro County Sheriff's Office and the U.S. Marshal's Office. All four suspects were arrested between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.

The following have been charged:

  • Kadeem Ocean, 20, of Bennettsville
  • Marcus Townsend, 17, of Bennettsville
  • Rashad Baskins, 18, of Bennettsville
  • An unidentified 15-year-old juvenile

All four face charges of murder, armed robbery and unlawful possession of a firearm during a violent crime. Ocean, Townsend and Baskins are being held at the Marlboro County Detention Center. The juvenile was been transferred to the Department of Juvenile Justice.

According to Turner, Ocean was out on bond for an armed robbery arrest in Marlboro County.

A bond hearing has been set for all four suspects.

According to Bennettsville Police Chief Larry McNeil, officers were called to the Quik Stop at 157 Marshall St. around 11:30 a.m. Monday. Police believe the suspects went into the store, robbed the clerk and shot him once in the chest.

McNeil said the clerk, who was identified as Samer Hussein, 44, was taken to Marlboro Park Hospital, where he was taken into surgery and died just after 4 p.m.
