Brunswick County, NC - BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (NC) - Two men have been arrested by detectives with the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office following a string of thefts in Ocean Isle Beach and Sunset Beach.
Officials say the two suspects, identified as Robert Maldanado, 37, and Gary Lynn Thompson, 41, were found in possession of a stolen golf cart and utility trailer in Ocean Isle Beach last week. The two were discovered by deputies at a residence near the location of the reported thefts.
Officials say two golf carts were reported as stolen from two separate residences on Oakland Drive, in addition to a utility trailer from Gause Auto and Trailer Sales in Sunset Beach between May 3-5.
Maldanado, a resident of Lumber Bridge, NC, has been charged with three counts of felony larceny, two counts of possession of stolen goods and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. Thompson, who resides in Bladenboro, faces two counts of felony larceny, two counts of possession of stolen goods and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia.
At the time of Thompson's arrest, he was wanted by Bladen County authorities and is now being held on a $180,000 bond after being served on all arrest warrants from Brunswick and Bladen counties.
Maldanado is being held on a $15,000 secured bond at the Brunswick County Detention Facility.
