Myrtle Beach, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Hurricane season kicks off on June 1, and emergency management officials are making sure residents are prepared for any tropical weather that heads to the Carolina coast.
Horry County will be partnering up with the Myrtle Beach Area Chamber of Commerce to host the 5th annual Hurricane Preparedness Conference and Expo on June 7. The conference and expo will begin at 8 a.m. at the Sheraton Myrtle Beach Convention Center Hotel.
The conference, according to organizers, is free to the public and will feature a number of general sessions including a 2010 hurricane season update, what can happen after a hurricane and how to prepare homes and businesses for tropical weather.
