Houston, TX - (NBC) - Dozens of highly decorated cars paraded through Houston, TX, Friday to kick off the city's annual Art Car Weekend.
More than 80 cars participated in the Main Street Drag, the official start of the weekend.
On Saturday, the cars will travel down two miles of Allen Parkway beginning at 1 p.m. The parade will end in downtown Houston.
Artist Randy Blair said he's been working on his car for two years.
"I love the smiles," he said. "People like to wave and that's what it's all about for me."
The parade is made up of more than 250 vehicles. It includes anything on wheels, such as unicycles, lawnmowers and go-carts.
Actor Dan Aykroyd will serve as the parade's grand marshal.
The Art Car parade began in 1988 as part of the Houston International Festival.
