CCU softball’s Frederick selected to Academic All-District First Team

CONWAY, SC - Coastal Carolina University softball pitcher Ashley Frederick has been selected to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District III First Team presented by CoSida organization, announced Thursday.

The senior native from Lusby, Md., has a 14-15 record this season and four shut outs. Frederick leads the team with an earned-run average of 2.62 and 133 strikeouts in 184.0 innings of work. Frederick had allowed 189 hits, 95 runs and 43 walks.

She is seventh at Coastal Carolina in career strikeouts with 320.

The Finance (Applied Mathematics) major has a 3.93 GPA and is a member of Beta Gamma Sigma and Pi Mu Epsilon. She was selected as Who's Who Among College Students three times, President's List three times, Dean's List four times and Dean's Scholar Athlete twice. She is also the vice president of Coastal Carolina Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and a member of Wall Fellows Program at Coastal.

Frederick is now eligible for Academic All-American honors, which will be announced on May 25, and she is the only Big South softball player to earn a spot on the First Team.

Frederick and the Chanticleers will travel to Lynchburg, Va., to take on Liberty Friday at 2 p.m.
