FLORENCE, SC – The Francis Marion University baseball and softball teams remained first and fourth in their respective NCAA Division II Southeast Region polls announced on Wednesday.
The final region polls, and in essence the NCAA National Tournament participants, will be determined this weekend. The Division II baseball tournament field will be announced on Sunday night at 10 p.m., while the softball invitations will be released on Monday morning at 10 a.m.
The Patriot baseball team is ranked first in the region poll with a 38-11 record. FMU will play in the Peach Belt Conference Tournament this weekend in Aiken, S.C. Francis Marion is ranked fifth for the third consecutive week in the latest Collegiate Baseball Newspaper Top 30 poll.
The FMU softball team (34-14) is ranked fourth in the region poll. The Patriots concluded their season at the PBC Tournament on April 18 and with exams now finished have returned to the practice field.
Eight invitations, including three automatics berths, are available for the Southeast Region for the softball tournament.
