HCPD investigators make arrest in Longs shooting

Longs, SC - LONGS, SC (WMBF) - One person is in custody and a second is the subject of a search by Horry County Police following a shooting in Longs last week.

Department spokesman Sgt. Robert Kegler says officers responded to a location on Plantation Drive after receiving reports of a shooting on April 27. Upon arrival, three victims were found with apparent gunshot wounds.

An investigation led police to arrest Glenn Wendell Bellamy, 23, of Conway. Bellamy is being held at the J. Reuben Long Detention Center on two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, and one count of assault with intent to kill.

An arrest warrant has also been issued for a second suspect believed to be involved in the shooting. Police are asking for the public's help in tracking down William Vertel Hickman, 21, who is wanted on two counts of assault and battery with intent to kill, and one count of assault with intent to kill.

Anyone with information on the location of Hickman or additional information regarding the shooting is asked to call the Horry County Police Department at (843) 915-TIPS.
