Worker hospitalized after being buried chest deep in ditch

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A contract worker is in the hospital after he fell into a ditch and was buried up to his chest in dirt, according to Horry County Fire Rescue.

Emergency crews were called to the scene at Dick Scobee Road and Ronald McNair Boulevard around 9:40 a.m. Wednesday. HCFR spokeswoman Leslie Yancey said the contractor, who was working for Grand Strand Water & Sewer, fell into the 7- to 8-foot deep ditch, but was able to free himself from the dirt.

The worker was transported by ambulance to Grand Strand Regional Medical Center. His condition is unknown at this time.
