Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – St. Paul's Episcopal Church is inviting the public to come out for a special organ recital by a talented Conway native.
Rodney Ward will perform his Jr. Organ Recital at the Conway church on May 14. The concert begins at 7 p.m., but the doors will open for seating at 6:30 p.m. Ward will be playing works by Louis-Claude d'Aquin, George Thalben-Ball and will end with the Carillon de Westminster by Louis Vierne.
Ward studied with Ann Miles while in Conway, before going to Appalachian State to study with Joby Bell. He is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and the American Guild of Organists. He is a rising senior at ASU where he is pursuing double Bachelor of Music Degrees in Organ Performance and Sacred Music.
Ward serves as Organist for First Baptist Church in Lenoir, NC, a position he has held for the past three years.
The concert is part of the Joyful Noise Concert Series hosted by St. Paul's Episcopal. Ward's recital is the final event for the 2009-2010 season. Admission is free, though donations will be accepted for CAP and the maintenance of the instruments in the church.
