From the Myrtle Beach Pelicans:
MYRTLE BEACH, SC – All throughout the 2010 campaign, the Myrtle Beach Pelicans have provided fun, family entertainment at a price below the cost of the Minor League Baseball average.
From spectacular fireworks extravaganzas to fantastic giveaways to even a 14th inning stretch on the May 1, 15-inning affair, the Pelicans have dazzled fans all season long. Luckily for fans on the Grand Strand, the Birds are just getting warmed up.
In addition to a new month's worth of baseball at BB&T Coastal Field, the Pelicans are unveiling a brand new way for fans to get the most bang for their buck by including them in the nightly show at the ballpark. This goes out to all those fans who love to get up and sing in front of a crowd, but maybe need a bit of seasoning before trying out for American Idol. Now when you purchase a ticket to attend a Pelicans game in 2010, you can sign up for the opportunity to lead the crowd in your own personal rendition of "Take Me Out to the Ballgame."
That's right, Pelicans fans, the Birds are looking for the Grand Strand's best Harry Carey impersonators to perform the old ballpark staple during the seventh inning stretch. Actual singing ability is not required, but a fun, enthusiastic personality is, so dust off the pink spandex, squeeze your feet into those cowboy boots, or put a hole in your mama's washtub, and come ready to wow the Pelican faithful with your performing chops. (Editor's note: pink spandex not required, nor encouraged).
For information on performing the seventh inning stretch at BB&T Coastal Field, contact Matt Dedeluk at 843-918-6016.
The Pelicans will return to the Grand Strand Monday, May 10 as the team welcomes the Kinston Indians for a four-game series. It will be Kids Eat Free Monday at the ballpark where all children 12 and under will receive a coupon for a free hot dog, chips, and soda.
In addition to free food for the kids, the Pelicans are also featuring a pair of promotions that are sure to be big hits. For the May 10 contest, it will be Mothers Monday where fans can make Mothers Day last a little longer. Any fan who purchases at least one child's ticket to the ballgame will receive a free ticket for mom to enjoy the ballgame together. It will also be the first Flip Flop $5 Fun Ticket Day at BB&T Coastal Field where fans can celebrate flip flop weather on the Grand Strand with $5 Upper Bowl tickets for the Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday games on the upcoming homestand.
