Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - A 12-hour event will be rocking Valor Park at Market Common into the early hours of Saturday morning, as hundreds gather to raise money in the fight against cancer.
The event is one of many Relay for Life events hosted by the American Cancer Society that will be taking along the Grand Strand through May. Cancer survivors, caretakers and those touched by the deadly illness take turns walking laps to signify that cancer never sleeps.
American Cancer Society officials say those participating in the 2010 Myrtle Beach Relay for Life raised more than $80,000 before the event kicked off. They hope that number will grow to $125,000 by the time the event concludes.
The event will wrap up at 7 a.m. Saturday morning.
