CCU women's track and field had good showing at Liberty Twilight

Conway, SC - From Coastal Carolina University:

LYNCHBURG, VA – The Coastal Carolina University women's track and field team had a good showing at the Liberty Twilight April 29, finishing the meet with three event winners and 14 top-five finishes.

Darriale Henley won the long jump with a personal-best 19'2" (5.84m) mark, while Sierrah Oates was close behind in third after jumping 18'10.5" (5.75m).

In the high jump, Kierra Gabe was the top finisher, winning as she cleared 5'5.25" (1.66m). Kandisa Allicock earned a third place finish with a 5'3.25" (1.61m) mark.

The final event winner of the night was Ikeiylah Brown in the 100 meters with a time of 11.62. London Smalls placed fifth, crossing the finish line in 12.24 while teammate Santresa Jamison finished close behind in seventh at 12.53.

In the 200 meters, Vondeeshia Humphries was the lone Chant to finish in the top five in fifth with a time of 25.08, but Jamison was right behind in sixth at 25.12.

Oates placed third in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.70 and Allicock was not far behind in fourth place at 14.76.

In the distance events, Christian Johnson finished fifth with a time of 2:17.58 in the 800 meters. Shelby Donahue was fourth in the 1,500 meters, crossing the line at 4:46.96, while Jessica Dennison competed in the 3,000-meter steeplechase, finishing second with a time of 12:15.32.

The Chanticleers took second and fourth in the 4x100-meter relay with the second-place team, consisting of Smalls, Brown, Henley and Jamison, crossing the finish line in 46.57. The fourth-place team of Thomasena Smith, Humphries, Melissa Arango and Samantha Keenan ran 49.63 in the event.

Coastal will participate in the Duke Twilight May 9 in Durham, N.C.
