Horry County, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC (WMBF) - Mayors and city council members from a number of municipalities in Horry County will be gathering Thursday evening for a quarterly League of Cities meeting.
The group of Grand Strand leaders gathers four times a year to discuss various issues affecting individual communities and the county as a whole.
Leaders are expected to hear from two candidates - Tom Rice and Howard Barnard - who are running for Horry County's top political position. Residents in Horry County will hit the polls to vote on the position in June.
Representatives from the South Carolina Department of Transportation are also expected to make presentations on area road projects that will help alleviate traffic congestion, in addition to a proposal from current Horry County Chairwoman Liz Gilland on holding similar meetings on a monthly basis.
The meeting is slated to begin at 6:30 p.m. at the Crystalite Café in Surfside Beach.
