Report: Hotel occupancy rates take slight dip

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - Occupancy rates among a select sample of hotels and condos along the Grand Strand has dipped slightly, according to new tourism statistics released by Coastal Carolina University's Clay Brittain Jr. Center for Resort Tourism.

Researchers say midweek occupancy rates fell 6.2 percent during the week of April 18-24, compared to statistics gathered in 2009. During the weekend period, guest rates fell 22 percent.

Based on weekly observations and predictions from the Clay Brittain Jr. Center for Resort Tourism, occupancy rates are forecasted to be near or above 55 percent during the weekend of April 30.
