108 students graduate from D.A.R.E program in Brunswick Co.

Brunswick County, NC - BRUNSWICK COUNTY, NC (WMBF) - More than 100 5th grade students from Lincoln Elementary School are saying no to drugs after graduating from the Brunswick County Sheriff's Office D.A.R.E. program.

The 108 students were recognized at the graduation by Lincoln Elementary Principal Retha Rusk, Brunswick County Sheriff John Ingram, Maj. Brian Sanders and D.A.R.E instructor Deputy Adam Stanley.

Ingram and Sanders were speakers at the graduation and shared their life experiences with the graduating students, advising them to be smart and make wise decisions.

Stanley taught the program in five classrooms, all of which competed in an essay contest. Each classroom had an essay winner that will participate in a county-wide contest in June at a D.A.R.E Camp.
