Columbia, SC - COLUMBIA, SC (WMBF) - A minimum-security inmate who walked away from his work assignment Monday in Columbia has been arrested.
Josh Gelinas, spokesman for the South Carolina Department of Corrections, says David Thurman Holmes was confirmed missing from Deno's restaurant on Saint Andrews Road in Columbia around 5:40 p.m. Monday The 26-year-old inmate had been housed at the Campbell Pre-Release Center in Columbia.
Investigators with the S.C. Department of Corrections' Fugitive Apprehension Unit took him into custody Wednesday at a mobile home in Pelion about 6:45 p.m.
Holmes started serving a six year sentence for second degree non-violent burglary in April 2009. He was convicted in Lexington County.
Holmes is being transported to Broad River Correctional Institution, a maximum-security prison in Columbia.
