5 killed in weekend crashes on SC roadways

SOUTH CAROLINA (WMBF) - Five people were killed on South Carolina roadways over the weekend, according to a preliminary report from the South Carolina Department of Public Safety.

Officials say those killed were involved in accidents between Friday at 6 p.m. and Sunday at midnight.

As of Sunday, 232 people have died on South Carolina highways, compared to 266 highway deaths during the same time period in 2009.

Of the 183 motor vehicle occupants who have died in 2010, 101 were not wearing seat belts.
