CCU Coastal Youth Wind Ensemble to perform

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Coastal Carolina University will present the Coastal Youth Wind Ensemble (CYWE) at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, May 3 in Wheelwright Auditorium.

The event is free and open to the public, but tickets are required.

CYWE, directed by James Tully, associate professor of music and director of bands, is an auditioned group of students in grades 8-12 from schools in the area. The group performs some of the most well-know compositions for wind band.

The event will include performances of small and large ensembles, featuring solo performances by St. James High School seniors Zachary Douglas (trumpet) and Axl Pons (English horn). The ensembles will perform works by such composers as Hulst and Sousa. Douglas will perform "The Carnival of Venice," by Julius Benedict, Pons will perform "The Girl with the Flaxen Hair," by Claude Debussy.
