MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)- Some Grand Strand businesses are taking extra measures to keep people coming through their doors.
With just a few clicks of the mouse, people can promote their business specials to the world via twitter.
Hatton Gravely is the Marketing Director at the Market Common, and she is in charge of the Market Common twitter account.
"It's very casual, you only have 140 characters so you can't say too much," she said.
Gravely says it's not only a good way to word out about the area, but a good way to find out who is following them.
"When we post links we can track where people are coming from,
she said. "When we post things on twitter we can see how many people are clicking ."
Gordon Biersch at the Market Common hopes more clicks, means more customers.
General Manager Helen Degennaro just started using twitter, and has seen results. "We can tell them what specials we are doing and promotions, contests, trivia- I mean there's a whole network out there looking for something."
Gravely says it's the interaction which really helps benefit all involved. "If anyone writes anything negative it's a public forum so anybody can see it," she said. "That's also a positive so we can address that concern. Where if somebody was just talking about it to their friends and not putting it on twitter we would never know about it."
