MBPD searches for trio in strong armed robbery

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One woman and two men are wanted by Myrtle Beach Police after a man reported the trio had robbed him early Thursday morning.

Officers with the Myrtle Beach Police Department were dispatched to Carolina Breeze on Cedar Street in Myrtle Beach just after 3:30 a.m. in response to a strong armed robbery.

Upon arrival, a 26-year-old man said he had been robbed by a woman and two men. He says he was walking through Carolina Breeze when he saw a woman sitting by a trash can, who claimed to be homeless. The woman asked the victim for food money, and when he went to open his wallet, two men appeared behind him in a white truck.

A police report says two men told the victim to stand still as they grabbed a hold of his arms while the girl snatched his wallet. The wallet, according to the victim, contained $140 total in $20 bills.

The victim says the two men fled the scene towards Cedar Street from Carolina Breeze. The woman, he claims, took off towards Third Avenue South.

The victim attempted to chase the woman by car and saw her enter a taxi near a tire shop on Third Avenue South. After successfully stopping the taxi, the woman exited the vehicle and ran towards Highway 15.

A Myrtle Beach Police report describes the woman as in her 20s and standing approximately 5'3" with dark hair. At the time of the incident, she was wearing a light colored shirt, blue jeans and black shoes.

Police also describe one of the male suspects as heavyset with long dreadlocks. He was wearing blue jeans, a black shirt and white shoes at the time of the incident. The second male suspect is described as standing 6-feet-tall, wearing a blue shirt, jeans and black shoes.

Anyone with information on the robbery or the location of the three suspects is asked to call the Myrtle Beach Police Department immediately.
