LORIS, SC - The Loris Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their first annual Loris in Bloom festival. On Saturday April 24, 2010 the downtown will transform itself into a bustling farmer's market.

For 31 years Loris has been the home of the Bog-Off Festival. This annual festival features a parade, a chicken bog cooking contest, crafts, arts, games, bands, local entertainment and gospel singing. It has been held every third Saturday in October, the festival includes 200 vendors, food, retail and a large kid's pavilion, fireworks and a concer. The Chamber decided that it was time to have a festival in the spring. People look forward to the Bog-Off every fall, and they want the Loris in Bloom festival to be the equivalent in the spring.

The festival will serve as a kick off for the city's seasonal farmer's market. The farmer's market will take place on every Thursday starting on the 29th from 2:00pm-6:00pm. The farmer's market will run throughout the summer and into the fall. The chamber is hoping the festival will get people eager about the farmer's market, and in return, the market will have great success in the following months.
