Florence Co. accident kills Hemingway woman

JOHNSONVILLE, SC (WMBF) - Investigators with the South Carolina Highway Patrol are attempting to piece together what led to a fatal accident in Florence County Thursday evening.

Lance Cpl. Paul Brouthers, spokesman for the South Carolina Highway Patrol, says the accident occurred along SC-341 just after 5 p.m. A 1998 Ford pick-up truck, traveling towards Johnsonville, ran off the left shoulder of the road, overcorrected, and landed in a ditch on the right-side of the road.

Brouthers said the vehicle overturned and ejected its driver, identified only as a 46-year-old woman from Hemingway. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.

No other vehicles or people were involved in the incident. The accident remains under investigation by the South Carolina Highway Patrol.
