MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) – Progress is being made on renovations at the Inlet Square Mall in Murrells Inlet, including plans for a new movie theatre.

A food court inside of the mall is almost complete. Heather Gray, general manager of the Inlet Square Mall, said it needs finishing touches like new furnishings, but all of the renovations should be done by August.

As part of the improvements, the mall will have new ceilings, new floors and restrooms. Crews are also slated to work on lighting in the shopping building.

"The entire interior of the mall is going to have those new additions. We are also adding new signage, road signage, directional and building signage," commented Gray.

A few months ago, the mall was left without a movie theatre after Regal Entertainment backed out of its lease, but now the mall is joining forces with Frank Entertainment, one of the world's oldest and most respected entertainment companies.

"It has a state of the art Sony surround sound, new leather seating," Gray said. "They are offering a café and beverage service and they also have the Sony playstation for the younger age that I'm sure will really enjoy that."

Gray said people who shop at the mall are looking forward to the makeover.

"We daily have people stopping in talking about how excited they are that the renovations are going on," she said.

"We are excited about it," said Inlet Square Mall employee Johnny Morris. "I work at the JCPennys and we have been waiting on this for a long time."

The movie theatre should be open in August.
