Crash temporarily slows traffic on 501

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - One driver has been cited for failure to yield by troopers with the South Carolina Highway Patrol following a crash on US-501 Wednesday afternoon.

Lance Cpl. Sonny Collins, spokesman for SCHP, says the accident occurred around 1 p.m. on US-501, just south of the Carolina Forest Boulevard intersection. He says a car pulled out of a private drive in front of a motorcycle, and the driver of the motorcycle laid the bike down on the pavement to avoid a collision.

Traffic slowed as emergency crews worked to clear the scene. One person was treated by EMS and transported to an area hospital. No word on the severity of his injuries.
