Horry, Georgetown students experience college life at CCU

Conway, SC - CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - More than 300 students from 18 elementary, middle and high schools in Horry and Georgetown counties will be stepping foot on the campus of Coastal Carolina University to see what it's really like to be a Chanticleer.

CCU and the Dalton and Linda Floyd Family Mentoring Program will host the students during its annual "A Day in the Life of a College Student" program on April 22 from 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The purpose of the event, according to CCU officials, is to provide public school students who are participating in the mentoring program with an opportunity to visit a college campus.

"Our hope is that through creative education and interactive experiences with their CCU student mentors on campus, the young students will begin to consider higher education as a real goal for their future," said Emma Savage-Davis, director of CCU's Biddle Center for Teaching, Learning and Community Engagement.
