CCU hosting NASCAR and M&M's Racing event

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) – Coastal Carolina University is hosting a NASCAR and M&M's Racing event on their campus this weekend.

CCU students on the NASCAR Kinetics Team are inviting the public to come out for a free viewing party of the upcoming NASCAR race at Talladega Speedway on April 25. The party will be held on campus at the CINO Grille.

The CCU Custom Car Club will also host its annual car show in Spadoni Park Circle. Registration for the car show begins at 8 a.m. and it starts at 10 a.m.

The viewing party is being sponsored by M&M Racing and vendors will be there to hand out free food, coupons, provide entertainment for children and adults, as well as general information on auto care. The NASCAR Kinetics Team will also give away NASCAR and M&M's racing items at the event. NASCAR executives will attend to judge the overall success of the event.

This event is part of a national competition that CCU has been selected for along with five other universities. The program, NASCAR Kinetics: Marketing in Motion, started in January 2009. The other competing universities are: Winston-Salem State University, University of Notre Dame, Central Michigan University, Howard University and Clark Atlanta University. All six universities were chosen based on their marketing programs and the students' eagerness to gain real world practice and knowledge.

Four Coastal Carolina University students were selected for participation in this year's spring semester program. Those students are: Allen Brouwer, team leader and a senior from Toms River, N.J; Barry Long, a senior from Estill; Dan Jolles, a senior from Silver Spring, Md.; and Roosevelt A. D. Corbett, a junior from Columbia.

The winning university will receive the grand prize, an all-expenses paid trip to Charlotte, N.C., for the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series All-Star Race where students will have the opportunity to interact with prominent NASCAR and Official Partner business professionals.
