Conway fire leaves family of 9 homeless

CONWAY, SC (WMBF) - Nine people are without a home following a mobile home fire in Conway late Sunday afternoon.

Leslie Yancey, spokeswoman for Horry County Fire Rescue, says nine units were dispatched to the home at 6343 Cypress Swamp Rd. at 4:51 p.m. After extinguishing the blaze, investigators ruled the fire was set accidentally.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire. A total of nine people -- including seven children and a 10-day-old infant -- were displaced by the fire.

The American Red Cross is currently assisting with efforts to clothe and house the family in the fire's aftermath. Since July 1, the local Red Cross has assisted 447 people who have been victims of home fires.
