Tax workshop planned for small business owners

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) - The Internal Revenue Service is sponsoring a tax workshop for small business owners or prospective small business owners in the Myrtle Beach area.

The workshop is slated for 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, April 29, at Coastal Carolina University, E. Craig School of Business.

"This workshop is a public service for those who have small businesses or may be thinking about going into business," said Mark Hanson, IRS spokesman. "While the IRS sponsors the event, the classes are conducted by local certified public accountants or enrolled agents. IRS representatives are not present."

The workshop is designed to provide information and instruction about business taxes, tax benefits, and obligations connected with starting a business as well as tax responsibilities for new employers. Other topics to be discussed include tax record keeping and tax filing deadlines.

The morning portion of the workshop will cover federal tax requirements. The afternoon session will cover state tax and employment security obligations.
