MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF) – Across the nation kids are learning about living a healthy life. Saturday was Healthy Kids Day across the Country.
The YMCA in Myrtle Beach had fitness assessments, relay races and healthy snacks for kids. Organizers say it is important to teach kids to be healthy at a young age.
"Be active, if we start the kids learning that it just grows," Matt Dempski Executive Director at the YMCA said. "They can grow up and have a healthy lifestyle- it's about a lifestyle change."
Myrtle Beach Mayor John Rhodes attended the event and even gave a proclamation declaring today healthy kids day.
