North Myrtle Beach, SC (WMBF) – Bishopville native Tommy Gainey's golf career takes him all over the place, but his favorite annual tournament is not far from home.

"It's good to be a part of [Monday After the Masters]. This is special," said Gainey.

Gainey is a regular at the annual charity pro-am golf tournament.  He's hoping to become more of a regular on the PGA's professional tours as well.

"Playing two tournaments, having two weeks off, then playing two more and having two weeks off, it's just hard to get any momentum built," said Gainey. "I'm working on that right now.

Gainey says he is happy with his season so far.  He's played 5 events, making two cuts and finishing as high as third.  He's currently 21st on the Nationwide Tour's money list.  Gainey played in 15 PGA Tour events in 2009 and 24 PGA Tour events in 2008.

"All it is, it's just playing more," said Gainey.  "The more I play, the more momentum I can start, build on it and keep going from there."

Gainey is playing this weekend in the Fresh Express Classic in Hayward, CA.
