Murrells Inlet, SC - MURRELLS INLET, SC (WMBF) - Tons of trash and debris is about to be a problem of the past for Murrells Inlet, as the area gears up for South Carolina's biggest and longest running one-day community clean-up.
The Spring Tide effort will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a creekside invocation at Morse Park Landing on Highway 17, next to the Hot Fish Club. The clean-up work, according to organizers, will begin immediately following the invocation.
Volunteers are needed to provide and staff watercrafts, pick up along the streets, unload trash off of trucks and boats, help at the clean-up headquarters and drive pick-up trucks. The actual clean-up will take place from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and will be followed by the Great Murrells Inlet Chowder Cook-Off from 1 to 4 p.m.
The afternoon is devoted to appreciation for the workers and a celebration of a clean creek.
