Florence, SC - FLORENCE, SC (WMBF) - The City of Florence Utility Department has initiated planning for the replacement of a water supply line that has been damaged by corrosion, according to city officials.
The old 2-inch galvanized water supply line, located in Lynch Street between Norfolk and Layton, has suffered corrosion that has prevented delivery of water at adequate flow and pressure. City maintenance crews are slated to replace the old line with a water main.
City officials say in addition to providing people with better water pressure and flow, the new line will allow for a fire hydrant to sit at the corner of Norfolk Street and Lynch Street.
Plans for the line are expected to be prepared and permits for construction will be secured over the next 60 to 90 days. Once the permits are obtained, construction on the line replacement will take approximately three weeks.
