March to the Mailbox event held in Carolina Forest

Myrtle Beach, SC - MYRTLE BEACH, SC (WMBF)- Horry County officials hosted a March to the Mailbox event on Saturday. Officials want to make sure everyone fills out and returns their 2010 census form.

Horry County spokeswoman Lisa Bourcier says Horry County was ranked one of the lowest counties in the state in the 2000 census. She just wants to make sure the numbers are accurate.

Saturday's event in Carolina Forest featured free food and face painting in addition to census forms.

"What we're doing is targeting our lowest census tracks from the 2000 census, and Carolina Forest was one of them," Bourcier said. "However, in 2000 Carolina Forest was extremely new and so we think that is definitely the reason for the undercount."

Horry County suggests if you haven't already, fill out your census form. Census workers will start door-knocking in May.
