Former Patriot coaches accept new positions

Florence, SC - From Francis Marion University

FLORENCE, SC – Two former Francis Marion University basketball coaches accepted new head coaching positions this week.

Former men's head coach Ed Conroy was announced as the new head coach at Tulane University, while former women's assistant coach Tiffany Tucker was introduced as the new head women's coach at Claflin University.

Conroy served as the Patriots' head coach for three seasons (1997-2000), posting a 41-40 mark and earning Peach Belt Conference Coach of the Year honors in 1998. He has been in charge of the hoops program at The Citadel for the past four seasons.

Tulane is a member of Conference USA.

Tucker served as an assistant on Heather Macy's staff this past year as the Patriot Women registered a 27-5 record, were ranked No. 20 in the final national poll, and earned a third consecutive NCAA Tournament invitation. FMU advanced to the round of 32 at the Southeast Regional.

Tucker is a graduate of the University of North Carolina where she played for former FMU head coach Sylvia Hatchell.

Claflin is a member of the NCAA Division II Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference.
