Lumberton, NC - LUMBERTON, NC (WMBF) - North Carolina authorities have located a man with Alzheimer's Disease who was reported missing over the weekend.
Lumberton Police spokesman Lt. Johnny Barnes said George Hayes Sr., 80, was found Saturday morning by a search team in a wooded area. The area in which he was located, Barnes added, was less than a half mile from his residence.
The 80-year-old was taken to an area hospital shortly after his discovery for precautionary reasons.
Hayes was last seen at his home in the 100 block of Leggett St. in Lumberton around 10:15 a.m. on Sunday. Hayes' son, Eric Hayes Jr., was taking a shower and told police when he got out, his father was gone.
