MB Herald: Gilland turns to summer concerts to help pay off ethics fines

Horry County, SC - HORRY COUNTY, SC - Liz Gilland hopes music will bring her back in harmony with the state Ethics Commission.

The County Council chairwoman has until Wednesday to pay $45,000 in fines to the commission.
As of Tuesday, she had not paid any of the penalties, and she said she doesn't have the money to pay the commission by its deadline.

However, Gilland said she hopes to pay off the debt this summer with the revenue from concerts featuring Christian and country performers.

She said she plans to sell tickets to the events and use the money to pay off her fines, which ballooned after she failed to file mandatory campaign disclosure forms from her 2006 re-election campaign.
